Data Visualization Internship - Amsterdam

 Are you a graphic designer student? Are you specialized in data visualization or information design? Then you can help us to bring our data storytelling capability to the next level!

 You will have to research and establish a new visual language for communicating the information (data, insights, presentations, ideas) that we work with. We want to challenge the way we currently visualize data, the way we use these visualizations in presentations and also the way we use graphics to communicate ideas. The initial scope of this assignment will be to research appealing and effective data visualizations, but the intern will be given a lot of freedom to take the initiative and further refine the scope. 

 Within the IT Office, the department of Performance & Analytics helps the organisation to realise its ambition to become data-driven. For that, we provide the Management Team of IT with actionable insights and data-driven strategy consultancy. Our focus is on quantitative and intelligent insights about the performance of the IT organization, and on providing decision-makers with critical views on these insights. We also help the organisation to improve data management and to refine its data strategy. We love thinking outside the box and try to challenge conventions and habits, while keeping our focus on the delivery of concrete and sustainable results.

• You are a graphic designer student with a matured sense for visual storytelling.
• Straight shooter: you can get quickly to the core of an issue.
• Proactive: there’s a lot to do, most of it we haven’t even thought about it yet!
• Coop-player: because we share everything; responsibilities, laughs, coffee, ups and downs, and of course success!
• Problem solver: your analytical skills and creativity are well developed in order to come up with realistic interventions.
• Entrepreneurial mind: you are open to improvements, innovation, and new opportunities.
• Technology / Data savviness: a big pre in our team!
• IT affinity: after all, you will be working within the IT department of ABN AMRO.
• Efficient creator: you have the ability to turn abstract meaning and concepts into attractive visualisations/design.
• Scripting/programming hero: skills in scripting or programming for making digital visualisations would be highly considered.
• Dutch speaker: not crucial but could be a great avail.
• Easy going: always up for a Friday’s afternoon drinks!
