NYSE Euronext is looking for an ambitious trainee/intern. The Global Compliance Division in Amsterdam is looking for an intern to review the existing database (Access 2003) and to develop and create an improved data base.

Assignment:

- Review the existing database (Access 2003) currently in use within Amsterdam Market Surveillance team;

- Propose and develop improvements of the existing database, in close coordination with the Market Surveillance team members;

- Create and build a new database, either in Access 2007 or Excel;

- Explain the use of the database to all the Market Surveillance team members.

Description of department:

The Market Surveillance team within the Global Compliance Division (“GCD”) is responsible for next-day supervision of all NYSE Euronext cash markets and NYSE Liffe derivatives markets in Europe (Amsterdam, Brussels, London, Lisbon, Paris) and carries out investigations into and detects alleged cases of market manipulation, and violations of the Euronext Rulebook. In addition, the team performs audits of NYSE Euronext member firms in order to assess their compliance with the Euronext Rulebook.

The Market Surveillance team has 6 staff in Amsterdam, 1 in Brussels, 5 in Paris and 8 in London. All audit and investigation activities and reports produced by the team are stored in the existing Market Surveillance database, called DATA (Data Administration and Tracking Application). As a result, all team members have a historic overview and can retrieve all reports, investigations and audits that were filed since 2004. The existing database is in need of a general and overall modernization. For the purpose of modernizing this database, Market Surveillance in Amsterdam offers an assignment for a trainee or intern for 4 to 6 months, starting half 2012.
